  • ½ teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • 1 Large egg
  • ½ cup Buttermilk
  • ¼ cup Unsalted butter, melted
  • 6 cups Vegetable oil for frying
Cinnamon Sugar Coating
  • ½ cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Ground cinnamon

Instructions
  1. In a saucepan, simmer apple cider until reduced to ½ cup, then let it cool.

  3. In another bowl, whisk the egg, buttermilk, melted butter, and cooled reduced cider.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and mix just until combined, avoiding overmixing.
  5. Cover and refrigerate the dough for 30-60 minutes to make it easier to handle.
  6. Heat vegetable oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a wire rack for draining.
  7. On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to ½-inch thickness and cut out donuts.
  8. Carefully fry 2-3 donuts at a time in the hot oil for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown.
