Ingredients
  

Beignet Dough
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 3/4 cup Milk
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
For Frying
  • 3-4 cups Vegetable oil
For Serving
  • 1/2 cup Powdered sugar

  • Large pot or deep fryer

Method
 

Prepare the Dough
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined, forming a soft dough.
Fry the Beignets
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Drop spoonfuls of dough into the hot oil, frying 3-4 at a time until golden brown on all sides.
  3. Remove beignets with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Serve
  1. Generously dust the warm beignets with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of nutmeg or cinnamon to the dry ingredients.
