Method
Make the Pie Crust
- Combine flour and salt in a large bowl, then cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add ice water, mixing until the dough comes together; form into a disk, wrap, and chill for 30 minutes.
- Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface and fit it into a 9-inch pie plate.
Prepare the Pecan Filling
- Whisk eggs, corn syrup, sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt together in a bowl until well combined.
- Stir in the pecan halves, ensuring they are evenly coated.
- Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust.
Bake the Pie
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the pie for 50-60 minutes, or until the center is set and the crust is golden.
- Allow the pie to cool completely on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
Notes
To prevent the crust from browning too quickly, you can cover the edges with aluminum foil during the last 20-30 minutes of baking. For best results, use fresh, good-quality pecan halves.
