Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package directions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat, drain excess fat, and stir in the marinara sauce.
  4. In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, fresh parsley, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of the prepared baking dish, then arrange a single layer of cooked noodles over the sauce.
  6. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, top with half of the meat sauce, and sprinkle with half of the mozzarella cheese.
  7. Repeat the layers, ending with a final layer of noodles topped with remaining meat sauce and mozzarella cheese.
Baking
  1. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and lightly browned.
  2. Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving to allow it to set.

Notes

For best results, use good quality marinara sauce and fresh ricotta. You can also add a layer of sautéed spinach for extra nutrition and flavor.
