Preparation
- Halve the avocados, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
- Mash the avocado flesh with a fork to your desired consistency.
- Add the lime juice, red onion, cilantro, jalapeño (if using), salt, and pepper to the bowl and mix well.
- Taste and adjust seasonings as needed, adding more salt, lime juice, or jalapeño.
- Serve immediately with tortilla chips or cover and refrigerate for up to 2 hours.
Notes
For best results, use ripe avocados that yield slightly to pressure. To prevent browning, press a piece of plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole before refrigerating.
