Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt and whisk well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, and egg.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
Kneading and Rising
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for 15-20 minutes, or until doubled in size.
Shaping and Baking
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a smooth roll.
- Place the rolls in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 10-15 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
Notes
For extra soft rolls, brush with melted butter immediately after removing from the oven.
