Dinner Rolls (Soft)

Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup milk warm (about 105-115°F)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 egg large

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt and whisk well.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, and egg.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
Kneading and Rising
  1. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
  2. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for 15-20 minutes, or until doubled in size.
Shaping and Baking
  1. Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a smooth roll.
  2. Place the rolls in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 10-15 minutes.
  3. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Notes

For extra soft rolls, brush with melted butter immediately after removing from the oven.
