Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package directions; drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat; drain off excess fat.
Assembly
- In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, fresh basil, salt, and pepper.
- Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Place a layer of cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce, slightly overlapping.
Layering and Baking
- Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, then top with half of the cooked ground beef.
- Sprinkle with one cup of mozzarella cheese and a quarter cup of Parmesan cheese.
- Repeat the noodle, ricotta, beef, and cheese layers once more.
- Top with a final layer of noodles, remaining marinara sauce, and the rest of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and lightly browned.
Serving
- Let the lasagna stand for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
