  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 15 oz Ricotta cheese
  • 24 oz Marinara sauce
  • 2 cups Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 Egg
  • 0.25 cup Fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package directions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat; drain off excess fat.
Assembly
  1. In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, fresh basil, salt, and pepper.
  2. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  3. Place a layer of cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce, slightly overlapping.
Layering and Baking
  1. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, then top with half of the cooked ground beef.
  2. Sprinkle with one cup of mozzarella cheese and a quarter cup of Parmesan cheese.
  3. Repeat the noodle, ricotta, beef, and cheese layers once more.
  4. Top with a final layer of noodles, remaining marinara sauce, and the rest of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
  5. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  6. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and lightly browned.
Serving
  1. Let the lasagna stand for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

For best results, use fresh, high-quality ingredients. You can also add other vegetables like spinach or mushrooms to the meat sauce for extra flavor and nutrients. This lasagna tastes even better the next day as the flavors meld together.
