Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
Optional Toppings
  • chocolate syrup
  • sprinkles
  • fresh berries

Equipment

  • large bowl
  • whisk
  • ice cream maker
  • airtight container

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  2. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to ensure it is thoroughly chilled.
Churning the Ice Cream
  1. Pour the chilled ice cream mixture into the frozen bowl of your ice cream maker.
  2. Churn according to the manufacturer's instructions, which typically takes about 20-25 minutes, until the ice cream is thick and resembles soft-serve consistency.
Freezing and Serving
  1. Transfer the freshly churned ice cream to an airtight container.
  2. Freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm, before serving. For best results, allow to sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes before scooping.

Notes

For an extra rich flavor, you can use vanilla bean paste instead of extract. Make sure your ice cream maker bowl is fully frozen for optimal results, usually 12-24 hours prior to use.
