Preparation
- In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, and sesame oil to create the sauce.
- Pat the chicken thighs dry with a paper towel; season them lightly with salt and pepper.
- In a small bowl, dissolve cornstarch in water to make a slurry; set aside.
Cooking
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat with a tablespoon of oil.
- Add chicken thighs to the hot skillet, searing for 5-7 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove chicken from the skillet and set aside, reserving any drippings.
- Pour the prepared honey-garlic sauce into the skillet with the drippings.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer, then stir in the cornstarch slurry.
- Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
- Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, tossing to coat evenly with the thickened sauce.
Serving
- Garnish the honey garlic chicken with sliced green onions.
- Serve immediately over rice with a side of steamed vegetables, if desired.
Notes
For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in half of the sauce for at least 30 minutes before cooking. Adjust the amount of garlic and soy sauce to your preference. This recipe can also be made with chicken breasts, but cooking times may vary.
