Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 3 large ripe bananas, mashed
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 0.5 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Equipment

  • loaf pan
  • mixing bowls
  • whisk

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, mash the ripe bananas.
Mixing and Baking
  1. Add sugar, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the mashed bananas and mix well.
  2. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  4. Allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Tip 1: Use very ripe bananas with plenty of brown spots for the best flavor. Tip 2: Do not overmix the batter; mixing until just combined will keep the banana bread tender. Tip 3: For an extra moist loaf, cover it loosely with foil during the last 15-20 minutes of baking if the top is browning too quickly.
