Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 large sweet potatoes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • salt and pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Large bowl

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Wash and peel the sweet potatoes, then cut them into uniformly sized fries, about ¼ to ½ inch thick.
Coating
  1. In a large bowl, toss the sweet potato fries with olive oil until evenly coated. Sprinkle with cornstarch and mix well to ensure each fry is lightly dusted.
  2. Season generously with salt and pepper, or your preferred spices.
Baking
  1. Spread the seasoned fries in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are not overcrowded to promote even cooking.
  2. Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
Serving
  1. Remove from the oven and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For extra crispiness, soak the cut sweet potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes before coating and baking. Ensure fries are thoroughly dried before tossing with oil and cornstarch to prevent steaming instead of crisping.
