  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 0.5 medium onion finely chopped
  • 1 celery stalk finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Rinse the wild rice blend thoroughly under cold water using a fine-mesh sieve, then set it aside to drain.
  2. Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat, then add the chopped onion and celery; cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Stir in the rinsed wild rice blend, chicken broth, salt, and black pepper into the saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 40-45 minutes or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
Finishing
  1. Once cooked, remove the saucepan from heat and let it stand, covered, for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork and serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can toast the wild rice in the butter for a few minutes before adding the broth. You can also substitute vegetable broth for chicken broth to make it vegetarian.
