Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 3 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, sliced for garnish
For Serving (Optional)
  • tortilla chips
  • celery sticks
  • carrot sticks

Equipment

  • large mixing bowl
  • 8x8 inch baking dish
  • spatula or spoon

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and ensure your cream cheese is softened to room temperature.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded cooked chicken, softened cream cheese, buffalo wing sauce, and ranch dressing. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated and the mixture is smooth.
  3. Stir in half of the shredded cheddar cheese (about 1/2 cup) into the chicken mixture. This will ensure cheesy goodness throughout the dip.
  4. Transfer the mixture to an 8x8 inch baking dish or another oven-safe dish. Spread it evenly across the bottom of the dish.
Baking
  1. Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the dip.
  2. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the dip is hot and bubbly, and the cheese on top is melted and slightly golden brown.
Serving
  1. Remove the dip from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
  2. Garnish with sliced green onions, if desired.
  3. Serve hot with tortilla chips, celery sticks, and/or carrot sticks.

Notes

For an extra kick, add a dash of cayenne pepper or a few drops of your favorite hot sauce to the mixture before baking. If you prefer blue cheese, you can substitute blue cheese dressing for ranch dressing, and crumble some blue cheese on top instead of cheddar for garnish. This dip can be made ahead of time and refrigerated; simply add 5-10 minutes to the baking time if baking from cold.
