Growing Cabbage
  1. Start by planting cabbage seeds indoors in small pots 6-8 weeks before the last frost date, ensuring they receive plenty of sunlight.
  2. Prepare your garden bed by mixing compost and gardening soil, then transplant the seedlings outdoors when they are about 4-6 inches tall, spacing them 18-24 inches apart.
  3. Water regularly, especially during dry spells, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.
  4. Protect your growing cabbage from pests like cabbage worms by using row covers or organic pest control methods.
  5. Harvest the cabbage heads when they are firm and solid by cutting them at the base with a sharp knife.
Frying Cabbage
  1. Once harvested, wash and chop your fresh cabbage into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet and stir-fry for 10-15 minutes, or until tender-crisp.
  4. Season with salt and black pepper to taste, then serve warm as a delicious side dish.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add diced bacon or onions to the fried cabbage. Adjust seasonings to your personal preference.
