Ingredients

Meatloaf
  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
Glaze
  • 0.5 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 tsp dry mustard
  • 0.5 tsp paprika
  • 0.5 tsp onion powder

Equipment

  • loaf pan
  • large bowl

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, bread crumbs, milk, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.
Forming the Meatloaf
  1. Transfer the meat mixture to the prepared loaf pan and gently press it down to form an even loaf shape.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, dry mustard, paprika, and onion powder to create the glaze.
Baking
  1. Spread the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
  2. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
Resting
  1. Once baked, remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  2. This resting period allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring a moist and flavorful meatloaf.
Serving
  1. Slice the meatloaf and serve warm with your favorite side dishes.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add some finely diced bell peppers or shredded carrots to the meatloaf mixture. To prevent cracking, ensure the meatloaf is not overly compacted in the pan.
