This recipe title appears to be a misunderstanding or a humorous take on "beef and broccoli." It is not possible to "grow" beef and broccoli plants together as they are from different biological kingdoms (animal and plant). This recipe will focus on preparing a quick beef and broccoli dish.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb beef sirloin cut into thin strips
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger grated
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Equipment

  • Medium bowl
  • Large skillet or wok
  • Whisk

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and cornstarch. Set aside.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
Cooking
  1. Add the beef strips to the hot skillet and cook until browned, about 2-3 minutes. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet, then add the broccoli florets. Stir-fry for 3-5 minutes until bright green and slightly tender-crisp.
  3. Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the broccoli. Pour the reserved sauce over the beef and broccoli.
  4. Stir continuously for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli.
Serving
  1. Serve immediately with steamed rice or noodles, if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can marinate the beef in a tablespoon of the soy sauce mixture for 15 minutes before cooking. Adjust the amount of brown sugar to your sweetness preference.
