Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Unroll the thawed puff pastry sheet onto the prepared baking sheet, then place the wheel of brie cheese in the center of the pastry.
- If desired, spread a layer of your chosen toppings like jam or honey over the top of the brie, and sprinkle with nuts or fruit.
- Bring the edges of the puff pastry up and over the brie, gently folding and pressing them together to completely encase the cheese, trimming any excess pastry if necessary.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to create an egg wash, then generously brush the entire surface of the pastry-wrapped brie with this mixture.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and puffed, and the brie cheese is melted and gooey inside.
- Carefully transfer the baked brie to a serving platter, let it rest for a few minutes, then serve warm with crackers or sliced baguette.
Notes
For best results, ensure your puff pastry is thawed but still cold enough to work with easily; if it gets too warm, it becomes sticky. Get creative with your toppings – caramelized onions, fig jam, or a sprinkle of fresh herbs can all elevate your baked brie.
