Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour an 8x8-inch baking pan. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt, then set aside.
Mixing
- In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
Combining
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. If using, fold in the chocolate chips.
Baking
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs, not wet batter.
Cooling
- Let the brownies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares and serving.
Notes
For extra fudginess, slightly underbake the brownies. Store leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
