Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt and set aside.
Mixing
- In a separate bowl, mash the ripe bananas, then stir in the granulated sugar, beaten egg, and melted butter.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined; be careful not to overmix the batter.
Baking
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can add ½ cup of chopped nuts or chocolate chips to the batter. Ensure bananas are very ripe for the best flavor and moisture. Store leftover banana bread at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
