  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy.
Baking
  1. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
  2. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix the batter.
  3. Divide the batter evenly among the 12 muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.
  4. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean.
  5. Allow the cupcakes to cool in the muffin tin for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg to the dry ingredients. Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for a smoother batter.
