  • 1 lb beef sirloin sliced thinly
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 0.5 cup soy sauce
  • 0.5 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp ginger minced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Slice the beef sirloin thinly against the grain and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, beef broth, and cornstarch; set aside.
Cooking
  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sliced beef and cook until browned, then remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet, then add broccoli florets and stir-fry for 3-5 minutes until tender-crisp.
  4. Stir in minced ginger and garlic, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
  5. Return the beef to the skillet and pour in the soy sauce mixture, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
  6. Drizzle with sesame oil and toss to combine, then serve immediately with rice if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the beef in a tablespoon of soy sauce and a teaspoon of sesame oil for 15 minutes before cooking.
