Method
Planting the "Seeds"
- In a large bowl, gently combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix, which can lead to tough burgers.
Cultivating the "Plants"
- Divide the mixture into 5 equal portions and gently form each into a patty, about 1-inch thick.
- Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent them from bulging while cooking.
Harvesting and Serving
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet or grill pan over medium heat, or preheat your grill.
- Cook the turkey patties for 5-7 minutes per side, or until a meat thermometer inserted into the center reads 165°F (74°C) and the burgers are browned and cooked through.
- Serve the cooked turkey burgers immediately on buns with your favorite toppings and condiments.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can finely chop and add a small amount of fresh onion or bell pepper to the turkey mixture. These turkey burgers are delicious served with a side salad or sweet potato fries.
